Privacy Policy

What we collect

We collect only what's necessary to run the service:

• Your name and email address (for your account)
• Emergency contact names and email addresses
• Check-in notes you write (location/trip information)
• Check-in timestamps and frequency preferences
• GPS coordinates at the time of each check-in (paid accounts only, with your explicit browser permission — see Location Data below)
• Payment information (processed by Stripe — we never see your card number)

How we use it

Your data is used exclusively to operate the service:

• Monitoring your check-in timer
• Sending reminder emails to you before your deadline
• Sending emergency alert emails to your contacts if you miss a check-in
• Processing your subscription payment

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except as needed to operate the service (email delivery via Resend, payments via Stripe).

Location data

On paid accounts, when you check in, your browser may ask permission to share your GPS location. This is entirely optional — you can deny the request and check in normally without sharing any location data.

If you grant permission, your device's GPS coordinates are sent to our server at the moment of check-in, reverse-geocoded to a human-readable address (using Google's Geocoding API), and stored with that check-in record. This location is only ever used to:

• Display your check-in history on your dashboard
• Include your last known location in the emergency alert email sent to your contacts if you miss a check-in

We do not track you continuously, share your location with third parties, or use it for any purpose other than your safety check-in record. Location is never captured in the background — only at the exact moment you click the check-in button.

Your emergency contacts

The names and email addresses of your emergency contacts are stored securely and used only to send alert emails if you miss a check-in. Your contacts are never marketed to, tracked, or contacted for any other purpose.

Data retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including contacts, notes, and check-in history — is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use industry-standard practices to protect your information.

Cookies

We use only essential session cookies required to keep you logged in. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no third-party cookies.
